Ingredients
- 1/tbsp butter ( for Flavor )
- 1tblsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup yellow onions, peeled and chopped
- 4 cups cabbage, chopped
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 1 (8 ounce) packages egg noodles
- 1/2 cup lite or fat free sour cream (optional)
- OPTIONS: Sliced Kielbasa added when Cabbage is added. Directions
Preparation
Melt butter in the pan Add onion and sauté / cook until transparent. Then add 1 tablsp olive oil Add cabbage and sauté/cook till tender but still crisp. ( if using the sliced kielbasa add at this time ) Stir in caraway seeds, salt and pepper. While cooking the cabbage place noodles in salted water in lg pan on the stove and cook as directed on package. Don’t overcook. Drain well. When cabbage is done Stir noodles into cabbage and add sour cream. if you are using.. Another option is to use cottage cheese instead of the sour cream .If you decided to use cottage cheese.. add at this point so minutes so it slightly melts into the mix. Cook 5 minutes longer ( approx time just to heat up the sour cream and the noodles) Then Seve PS. I have also used pre cooked ground meat mixed into this mix for a another option to make this a complete dinner meal.. It is a flexible post Use your imagination for creative add ins.
